Alvin’s Musings

Hello world!

It’s been almost a week since the CSQ was reunited for our 2017 Musical Gatherings Tour. Audrey, Alyssa and I are so fortunate to have Laurence Schaufele joining us as our guest violist this year. He’s an amazing musician and a fantastic story teller. It’s been a hectic week of intense rehearsing but we had our first performance on Thursday evening at McMaster Manor. The concert was a fundraiser for Camp Woodboia. The atmosphere was incredibly positive as the community got together for such an amazing cause. Despite the heat in the church, we thoroughly enjoyed performing for our listeners (we even had a surprise visit from the manor cat!).

Yesterday, we made the trek to Moose Jaw for a performance at The Bentley. Audrey and I performed there last year as a duo and it was great to be back as a quartet. My favourite part of the program was an amazing arrangement of fiddle tunes. The residents were so welcoming and enjoyed themselves. We were also lucky to be able to chat with some of them over a cup of coffee and some tasty snacks.

We are currently on the road to Swift Current where we will be playing at the Market Square. I’m looking forward to performing some pop songs for a change a pace! As well, I’m hoping to peruse the market for some locally grown/made goodies! After that, we will be on our way to Brooks for our concert at the Red Roof Studio. It’s always such a fun venue in which to perform. I love looking onto the walls for Rita’s wonderful artwork!

Until next time,
