Blog from the road

As we roll along the Trans Canada Highway from Brooks to Calgary, I find it hard to believe that only one day has passed since we were at our home base in Lafleche. Yesterday was a whirlwind of travel and performances, with a morning show at the Swift Current Market Square and an evening concert at the Red Roof Studio.

We hit the ground running with an early start on the road to Swift Current. This was our first outdoor show of the Musical Gatherings Tour and we had a really great time performing under a beautiful tent covering the outdoor stage at the Market Square. We even had one surprise audience member break into dance during one of our fiddle sets! After that, we continued to head west to Brooks and then to Duchess, Alberta. This is my third year performing at the Red Roof Studio, but even so, our hosts Collin and Rita exceeded expectations with their warm hospitality, beautiful performance space, and enthusiastic crowd. With two calls for encores and a post-concert meteor shower viewing, it was a memorable evening for the CSQ.

I am looking forward to performing in Calgary again this afternoon and in our CSQ Calgary Debut public concert this evening. À bientôt!
